Respect for water, its control and conscious use, consistency in putting forms and technologies at its service, enriching them
where possible with a touch of color. Sonia Magistro, Manager of QD Magistro Lab tells us how the Hoop faucet collection was born and developed.
Davide Cattaneo: What are the aesthetic features of Hoop and how did you reason about the shapes and sizes of the elements?
Sonia Magistro: Each QD Magistro Lab product enhances the experience of water in our daily lives and provides a new response to the increasingly demanding habits of the contemporary lifestyle. With Hoop in particular, we worked on subtraction and less is more thinking. The challenge was to get rid of any superfluous elements while still managing not to lose the warmth that any product with an artisanal background should convey. We triggered a process that led us to the essence and a minimalism that emphasizes functionality. The gesture should be simple, never lacking in personality. And the character of Hoop lies precisely in the basic idea that determined the choices of the creative process: an accomplished and functional object, but one of brilliant elegance.
Q.C.: From a technological point of view, what materials did you use and what components are included in the faucet?
S.M.: The craftsmanship and manufacturing approach combined with state-of-the-art technology is what characterizes us. Most of the processes, including cleaning, chrome plating and assembly, are still performed manually. In this sense, the Hoop collection is the result of long experimentation in search of an aesthetic synthesis with an obstinate regard for water conservation while respecting the environment. The all-brass body, retractable swivel aerator, and small cartridge allowed for a clean design, a minimalist synthesis with a touch of color that complements its personality.
Q.C.: Color is the protagonist of the collection. What finishes and colors are proposed? What are the possible combinations?
S.M.: Hoop is available in monochrome or two-color versions, with a choice of custom combinations. A chrome, brushed black chrome, blacktar or brushed nickel body can be matched with a handle in a variety of finishes, or new colors such as paris green, astral night or tuscan sun yellow, which start from primary colors reinterpreted in a key of unexpected freshness. The expanded choice of available shades makes it possible to satisfy every need or desire for a refined and contemporary bathroom environment.
Q.C.: Color is also a hallmark of other QD Rubinetterie proposals. How do you think it affects the perception of objects?
S.M.: Colors are frequencies, they create moods, they open paths that lead elsewhere just like music. In this sense it is a metaphor that works, because each color conditions not only the glance, but also dialogues with the environment that contextualizes it. True, a careful search for color sets us apart, and sometimes inspiration arises precisely from an unexpected hue capable of opening up a world.
